The Solar Model Blog

6/10/07 - Mars has been invaded! Some kind of chewing monsters have compromised its defenses, and I found the place flooded! There's still a bit of snow in the area of the inner planets, but Earth is easily accessable, with Venus, Mars and Sol an easy hike.
11/25/06 - The snow was several inches deep and falling at Jupiter. We went as far as the orbit of mars, and turned back. We could have made the summit today in my Interplanetary Grand Cherokee, but that won't be the case after this new ice age sets in...
11/25/06 - There have been concerns about Jupiter: I replaced the damaged container with an amo box. This should hold up a little better!

8/30/06 - BTW: I am not planning to remove Mars! The planet is still there, dwarf status, whatever.

8/29/06 - Emails have been coming in about the inner planets, everything seems to have made it through another season. I havent' heard about Neptune, but I've checked on Uranus, it's fine.
6/7/06 - I believe the road is completely clear again.
11/15/06 - I hear things are pretty well snowed in now.
5/25/05 - The thaw is setting in! Some of the planets are once again hospitable...
7/25/04 - Pluto has been replaced. Rock on.

6/22/04 - Pluto seems to have wandered out of orbit during the last ice-age. I spent an hour looking for it myself, but I fear it may have left the Solar system entirely. I will be replacing this planet by the end of the month. (I need to make a trip to the local planet store!)

1/27/04 - People have asked about lodging in the Emigrant Gap area. I recommend Big Bend - I think there's a B&B or something there, in it's beautiful! Otherwise, Truckee would be your best bet, I think.
12/2/03 - The Ice Age has returned. Hope to see the "glaciers" receding buy May or so. :-)
9/30/03 - Still looking for a spot to place Saturn. Please let me know if any of you find one!
7/22/03 - Corrected coordinates for Mars. Also, added a new reference for Jupiter. (Round planets are best, I think.) Still patches of snow at the very top, but no more ice age!
6/28/03 - Due to complaints about the location (not to mention the missing cache) Neptune has found a new home - and a very nice one at that. Click on neptune to find out about it!
6/16/03 - dstoye reports "global warming" at Venus, Earth is still under snow. Your ship will probably take you only as close as Mars, the rest of the system is still EVA at this point.
6/1/03 - First person to log Sol was lildevil. He hiked the last 3 miles (from the orbit of Saturn on in) in the snow. He reports "severe ice age" conditions on all of the inner planets.
5/18/03 - You can get to within about a mile of Jupiter with 4WD. Uranus and Pluto are accessible, but Neptune seems to be missing. (Micro cache was dropped by Jeo. Thanks man! I'll replace the main cache soon.)
5/5/03 - The road was still closed to Grouse Ridge. That excludes Jupiter, and all the inner planets. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are all accessible, though. I estimate the road will be open by early June, I'll update when it is.
